IndieStitch March 2021
Pattern & Fabric
This month we are all about the Yanta Overalls from Helen’s Closet. According to Helen’s Closet Website:
“The Yanta Overalls are laid-back, artist-style overalls with a comfortable fit through the waist, hips, and legs. These overalls have classic features like a v-shaped back and a pointed chest pocket. The Yanta straps are secured using buttons. Make your Yanta Overalls cropped pants or summery shorts. Both views have front and back patch pockets. Yanta is comfortable, modern, and fun to sew!”
The fabric choices in this kit were all 100% Cotton Twill, which is one of the recommended fabrics for this pattern. The color choices were olive, coral, and driftwood.
Notions
Required notions
The required notions for this pattern are lightweight interfacing for the straps and a couple of 5/8 inch buttons. Both of which were included in the kit.
Each and every box of IndieStitch includes coordinating thread & at least 2 sewing needles. This month’s needles were size 90/14, which are perfect for a heavier weight fabric, like twill.
Don’t forget about the pattern pieces! With an IndieStitch box, printing or taping is not required for this 43-page pattern! Three large-format prints were included in this box ready to trace or cut out.
Bonus Notions
Since we are sewing some buttons, we threw in a handy fabric pencil, hand needles, silicone needle puller, and some fray check to keep those buttonholes from going crazy after washing!
Sew Along
And of course, we can’t forget the sew along! Every box of IndieStitch includes an invite to our video sew-along so that subscribers 1) have some motivation/accountability to do the project, 2) get to share their finished projects, & 3) can ask questions and support each other during the project.
Sew-alongs are held in our Private Facebook Group and the videos are released via email for those who do not want to join the group.
